Hello, I’m Eloise and I’m thirteen years old. I’m raising funds for an incredible opportunity I found out about through my school, where I’ll travel to Tanzania and make a real difference to the local communities that live there.

Helping Local Communities

This means I’ll be able to directly impact the lives of so many people that are less fortunate than I am by taking part in things like:

• Hand building the foundations of schools and community centres
• Paving playgrounds
• Creating school desks for students
• Laying down roads
• Building toilet blocks.

It’s my hope that I’ll be able to contribute towards making a brighter future for the people of Tanzania through this expedition. As well as helping the people, it’s a great opportunity to be able to help with environmental conservation projects where I’ll be protecting the local wildlife (which is something I’m particularly passionate about) while also gaining valuable skills that will last a lifetime.

Learning Tanzanian Culture

I will also actually be able to get to know the local people and learn all about the beautiful Tanzanian culture while being able to learn some of their traditional dances and how to cook some of their dishes.

Why Is This Important

All of this matters so much to me because I have recently learnt:

• 600,000 children under 5 suffer from acute malnutrition.
• 73% of the Tanzanian population don’t have access to good sanitation and clean water
• The life expectancy is just 66 years old, one of the lowest in the world
